Putting Greens

Illustration for Putting Greens

The putting green is the very short-mown surface of the golf course where the hole is located. This special area is prepared so you can putt well on it, meaning you try to roll the ball into the hole from here using a putter. Because the putting green is so important and vulnerable, special rules apply, for example about how you walk or play on it, and these are described in Rule 13.
