Dropping Zone

Illustration for Dropping Zone

A specially designated area on the golf course where you must or may drop your golf ball if, under the Rules of Golf or specific local rules of the course, you can no longer or are no longer allowed to play your ball from its current spot. This is called 'taking relief'. The Committee (usually the golf course or the organization running a competition) determines where such a dropping zone is located.
